Islamabad: Pakistan has assured the IMF to gradually increase the levy on petroleum products to 50 rupees per liter.
According to the details, a letter of intent has been agreed between Pakistan and the IMF.

Sources said that from September 1, the levy on petrol will be increased by 10 rupees and on diesel by 5 rupees, the levy on petrol will be increased to 30 rupees and on diesel by 15 rupees.
Sources said that the levy will be increased by another Rs 5.5 per liter in the coming months and by January 2023, the rate of levy will increase to Rs 50 per litre.
According to the sources, at present a levy of 20 rupees is levied on petrol, 10 rupees on diesel and kerosene, and the target is to collect 855 billion rupees in the current financial year in the form of petroleum levy.
